Metronidazole is used to treat bacterial infections of the vagina, stomach, liver, skin, joints, brain and spinal cord, lungs, heart, or bloodstream.
Metronidazole is also used to treat trichomoniasis, a sexually transmitted disease caused by a parasite.
Dose is based on body weight and must be determined by your doctor.
The dose is usually 7.5 milligrams (mg) per kilogram (kg) of body weight every 6 hours for 7 to 10 days. Your doctor may increase your dose as needed.
